71/365 Tension Triggers & Temper

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

It’s no secret: Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia do Not respond well to tension triggers. Nor do they respond gracefully to boil-over bouts of Irish temper!) I’ve known this for years. My family has known this for years. Sheesh, even a friend in California, whom I rarely get to see, knows this! This knowledge flew away as swiftly as I departed the work stool in my Tower yesterday.

70/365 Well H_ll!!

Monday, March 10th, 2008

There I was, happily working away on a half-scale miniature scene in my *Tower* for a few minutes. I knew DD and DGD were on their way over to visit (DD having been unceremoniously dumped from her dental appointment!), so I was occupying myself with some of the small details which would be easy to break away from. Well, I broke away from that at record speed when DD came through the door and asked “Did you know your car door was open?”

OPEN???? It is always locked! The habit is so strongly ingrained that it has become a standing joke; if I say there are more groceries in the car and I left it unlocked. . . .grab the keys so that you can silence the alarm quickly! When I exit the car, I always lock it - woe betide the occasional passenger I carry, because I often perform the unlock/open/set lock function so quickly that their door is relocked before they have a chance to exit:) OPEN???? It has been pouring down rain in buckets since sometime before our 7 AM alarm went off! OPEN???? Why?!?! OPEN???? How?!?!

68/365 Christmas/Valentine’s Day/Easter Cactus?

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Spent some time in my Tower and accomplished a bit; completed the half-scale (1/2 inch=1 foot) Christmas tree skirt for my ‘Tis The Season room box and did some hunting amongst tote-bag gifts and my own multiple (um, well, myriad!) stashes for likely tree ornaments. It’s a definite challenge finding beads/findings/oddments with which to create convincing 1″ scale (1″=1′) tree trimmings; reduce the scale by half and you double the difficulty! >Go figure!<

Did a “heavy stuff” shopping with DH, and visited Radio Shack for a battery pack, more rosin-core solder and a resistor for the wiring (light shining on the snow scene visible through the widow) in ‘Tis The Season. Found a more sturdy rack for my soldering iron (the highly portable one I pack in my tool box is also highly unstable!) and fitted four or five watches with new batteries. {Yes, I know; stop the watch when I change to another, and this wouldn’t happen!]

65/365 Heart food

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

My daughter posted a photo on her Flickr account recently. (She’s much better at keeping her selection fresh than I am!) I looked at it - enjoyed it (especially since my sweet grand-daughter was in the frame) - left a descriptive note about the subject matter, as requested - and almost closed the window. Then, for some reason, I looked to the right of the photo. That’s where the *tags* are. Tags are very helpful if you’re searching for something; since I visit frequently and do not need to search, I rarely bother reading the tag(s).

This time, for some reason, I did pause to read them. I am not going to copy the tag list here (nor add a link to the particular photo) because that would be an ego-driven act. Suffice it to say that the tags she entered. . . .the way she thinks of me. . . . were much needed food for my heart!

64/365 Christmas/Valentine’s Day/Easter Cactus?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

What can I say- - - -it’s a *slow news day*! While dashing around the casa with watering can at the ready, I realized that my larger Christmas cactus is blooming. Not “again”, but rather “still”! Some years, it decides it wants to be an Easter cactus. This year, it put forth a glorious show of bright pink blossoms during the Christmas season, and the silly thing is still budding & blooming in March!

63/365 Hehehe - Wipeout !

Do you recognize that ‘lyric bite’? Can you name the group who cut that record? Well, if you’re young enough that your music has always come to you via cassette, CD’s or iTunes, you’re probably too young to remember when surfer music ruled;)

The past few weeks of running around South Central Texas, busily chasing miniaturist’s events, seems to have finally caught up with me. The best I could manage in the way of activity today was a quick trip to the market to grab some much needed supplies, and then I vegged out with the family. DD & DGD were here to enjoy the company of DS (back for yet another brief break from Retail Hell in “Sand City” (El Paso.)

62/365 Day Two - Abuelita’s Casita

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Guinea Pigs are a “good thing”! Abuelita’s Casita (in its present incarnation), takes two very long days to complete. The Guinea Pigs departed TGFT workshop around 7 PM with the wiring to be done as homework. We were a tired but happy group, our various adobe treatments look awesome. and The Guys now know they need to pre-finish some areas, send the Day One students home with a work assignment or otherwise pare the class back to its planned 1.5 day length. I’m confident I can complete the wiring at home and I have never seen “scale adobe” look this realistic - collectors are going to love this workshop!!
