Falling is a pain in the …..uh, back!!!

Properly armed with two lawn sprinklers, I did battle with the Bexar County water restrictions yesterday. (We can only use sprinklers once a week, before 10 AM  – our day is Friday.) Although hand-watering is allowed the rest of the week, I’ve found the heat and the hose weight present big problems.

From 7 AM till 10 AM, I repeated a circuit: set back yard sprinkler….scoot to front yard and set that sprinkler….into the house to set the nagger/timer. 20 minutes later – repeat the pattern. All went well, until the front yard was done and I put the water on the one remaining dry patch in the back yard.  The patch nearest the patio. It’s a square patch and a round sprinkler – although I was careful about wasting water, some was landing on the concrete patio slab.

My path back into the house was through-the-sprinkler pattern, so I was moving pretty fast when my right foot hit the (wet) patio. . .and began to slide!  Wish I had video of it, because I performed all sorts of contortions during the fall, trying to avoid landing on either (much abused) knee. I’m not sure whether it was those contortions or the very solid landing on my rump that made my lower back mad, but something did!!

Hindsight (pun intended) is a wonderful thing, isn’t it? I could have gone out the gate and around to the front door. . . . dry and unabused! Sigh.

Glad you are okay, and that I happened to drop by shortly after your circus act.

Two words you once told me —

    SLOW DOWN!

    There. 🙂

I like your daughter’s advice. Slow down a little. Life and all its stuff will still be there five minutes from now.
